The Garde Arts Center and Bob’s Discount Furniture sponsored 12 Schooltime Series and Sleuths Contest

The Garde Arts Center, Southeastern Connecticut’s non-profit performing arts center in downtown New London, and Bob’s Discount Furniture announced that Jackson Harris, from Mile Creek School in Old Lyme, Conn., was the winner of 2011-12 Schooltime Series Sleuths Contest.

Jackson won a Colorado Stairway bunk bed set, complete with two twin-size Perfection mattresses, courtesy of Bob’s Discount Furniture, and a free Schooltime Series performance for his entire class at the Garde Arts Center. Bob’s is also donating $500 to his class to help with transportation costs to the performance.

“We are happy to sponsor this contest to help support the Garde Arts Center and the Schooltime Performance Series, which is a great way for children to experience and appreciate the arts,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director and Bob’s TV personality. “Bob’s Discount is dedicated to supporting the communities in which we serve, and we’re thrilled to send children to these wonderful performing arts events.”

The Bob’s Discount Furniture 2011-12 Schooltime Performance Series is a set of curriculum-based theater, music and dance performances presented by national touring companies. The performances give students a chance to enhance their learning experience through first-class performing arts events.

Each Schooltime Series production is designed to engage children in the magic of live performances, while reinforcing educational goals with study guides and links to online curriculum. Over the past five years more than 87 schools have sent students from pre-K to grade 12 to the Garde’s historic 1450-seat theater.
